The LICVB and Sports Commission is Long Island's official tourism promotion agency, as designated by Nassau and Suffolk Counties and the State of New York. In addition to extensive advertising of the region, it offers residents and visitors a comprehensive guide to Long Island events through its annual Travel Guide, website and brochures. Membership is open to all tourism-related businesses, including hotels, restaurants, travel agencies and amusements. The Long Island Forum for Technology is a not-for-profit organization that provides local businesses with assistance ranging from technology application and the formation of strategic relationships, to programs designed to help lower operations costs and increase growth. The LIFT team includes engineers as well as managers who together help companies apply technology and process methodologies in manufacturing, marketing and product development. The federal and state governments have designated LIFT as a Regional Technology Development Center, while the National Institute of Standards and Technology has named it a Manufacturing Extension Partnership.

The Long Island Housing Partnership was created in 1988 by the Long Island Association's Housing Committee in response to growing concern about the affordability of housing on Long Island. The partnership is the nation's first not-for-profit public-private housing development company based in -- and dedicated to -- the suburbs. Today, the Partnership is a consortium of organizations, ranging from businesses and civic groups to labor and religious organizations. Together they build homes for low- and moderate-income residents and provide free counseling on mortgages and default prevention.

The main purpose of LISTnet is to promote Long Island as a software and technology center of excellence -- spurring business growth for the group's member companies. It brings companies together at forums and other events, partners with companies to provide high technology centers, and sponsors joint marketing programs and trade shows. LISTnet operates a high-tech incubator at Briarcliffe College in Bethpage.
