Suffolk's Department of Economic Development is dedicated to promoting sustainable economic development in the county through a combination of business counseling and financial assistance. Programs such as the Suffolk County Linked Deposit Program is designed for businesses with 100 or fewer employees. They can obtain reduced interest rates on conventional business loans - up to 2 percentage points lower than the going rate for the first two years. These loans can be used for capital improvements, equipment purchases, research and development, and working capital.

Suffolk County Industrial Development Agency
The IDA helps businesses expand or relocate by issuing tax exempt or taxable bonds, or by conducting basic lease transactions. Businesses can also use bonds to purchase and rehabilitate space, or to purchase machinery and equipment. Businesses also can go through the IDA for sales tax abatements, real property tax abatements and exemptions from mortgage tax.
